A mix of Old Wente and Clone 15, the fruit for our Chardonnay comes from three blocks from a single vineyard in Carneros on mostly clay loam soils. The Chardonnay in the Carneros region is more broad and rich across the palate. The area is foggy and windy which delays ripening so the fruit will come in later with a higher acidity. The wine was 100% barrel fermented in a mix of Francois Frere, Saury and Seguin Moreau French oak barrels – 38% new – for 11 months before bottling. The wine went through 100% malolactic fermentation with a mix of native and inoculated ferments. Appellation: Carneros Varietal: 100% Chardonnay Ageing: 11 months in French oak barrels, 38% new oak
Toasty and balanced, It’s rich nose delivers aromas of Bosc pear, star jasmine and cardamom. Full, rich and long on the palate, it’s reminiscent of caramelized butter and toasted almonds.

Heady aromatics pierce through a full-figured sensibility of oak and body in this well-made wine—a partnership between the winery and musician John Legend. A gritty texture makes way for a length of baked pineapple and pear decadence that lingers effortlessly on the palate.
