The grapes for this Red Wine are predominately from two vineyard sources; our very own Rutherford Estate and from a vineyard located in the northern reaches of Napa located at an elevation of above 1200 ft. The Merlot went through extended maceration with the wines being on the skins from 23-55 days. It was then aged for 26 months in a mix of tight grain, Demptos, and Nadalie French oak barrels - 20% new - before being bottled. Appellation: Napa Valley Varietal: Petite Sirah, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot Ageing: 26 months in French oak barrels, 20% new oak
Opens with rich aromas of Santa Rosa plum, Bing cherry and a hint of pepper. The harmonious blend of weighty tannins from the Petite Sirah with the suppleness of Merlot creates a complete wine with length and persistence on the palate accompanied by notes of cocoa nibs and coffee.
